NORD Drive-systems expands the facility to meet the demand for large gearboxes and industrial gearbox units

Nord Drive-systems announced the expansion of its present facility at Hinjewadi, Pune. The inauguration of the facility was done by Shri Vikram Kumar (IAS) Metropolitan Commissioner, PMRDA. Other dignitaries present for the occasion was Jutta Humbert, Managing Partner, NORD Drive-systems Group, P L Muthusekkar, MD, NORD Drive-systems.

Today, NORD Drive-systems is India’s manufacturing facility and has an installed capacity of 42,000 geared motors per annum. Also, it has 22,000 electrical motor assemblies with a utilisation factor between 75 to 80%. The requirements are served through two of our NORD production plans in Hinjewadi MIDC Phase II that began in November 2007. The requirements are served through two of our NORD production plans, one in Hinjewadi MIDC Phase II that started in Nov 2007 and the second facility in Hinjewadi MIDC phase I which was established in the year Oct 2017.

Considering the fact that the Indian market is growing consistently, NORD India is looking at consolidating its presence further. Also, the management has taken the decision to further increase its production capacity, especially for larger gearboxes and IGUs. This is set to be the third facility in a row and NORD India aims to use this newly available space for the production of large gearbox assemblies. The move will also accommodate bigger warehouses to support the proposed large gearbox production, hence, making way for more production space in the existing building for medium-size gearbox motors.
